DES MOINES, Iowa – In yet another sign he’s fully engaged in the next campaign, Gov. Terry Branstad’s campaign has launched a new site telling activists about the Republican caucuses and conventions and encouraging them to get involved in politics early in the year.
Most Iowans are familiar with precinct caucuses and political conventions in presidential election years, but turnout is traditionally low in off years and Branstad’s campaign is seeking to boost that turnout. The product of that would be to engage supporters and activists early in the year, hoping to keep them engaged through the general election when Branstad will be on the ballot.
The caucuses will be held on Jan. 21 at 7 p.m. and as countries set locations for the precinct caucuses, the Branstad campaign will post that information for caucus-goers. They will update the information for county and district conventions. The information will be postured at a special website, BranstadReynolds.com/caucus.
